SENIOR TUTOR – SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS (FURTHER EDUCATION) - CALMAN COLAISTE COLLEGE

We are currently recruiting for Senior Tutors to join our Calman Colaiste College provision and satellite services.  The successful candidates will assist the Head of College in the day to day running of the services and to lead on elements of the college development plan. Kisimul Group.

About the position:

Calman Colaiste College is a successful specialist 16-25 provision for students with learning disabilities and autism. We provide a functional and vocational skills based curriculum offer in our main campus at Thorney, within the community and at our satellite bases. We have extensive grounds with animal husbandry and various high quality learning spaces, support from onsite and group wide therapy teams and a dedicated team of tutors and learning support assistants.

This is a challenging, but diverse role. The successful person will have responsibilities within the scope of the following areas, for which designated non-teaching time will be allocated. (This will be alongside a required direct teaching input reflective of college roll numbers).

What will you be doing:

  • Contributing to assessment of potential new students to the college
  • Ensuring that Individual Learning programmes are personalised and effective.
  • Managing performance and attendance of college staff, including mentoring and induction of new staff;
  • Elements of operational oversight of the college base, and/or satellite bases as required.
  • Assisting with the preparation of educational reports and chairing EHCP review meetings.
  • Preparation and presentation of information for monitoring and inspection visits.
  • Ensuring that the college improvement plan is implemented effectively by taking designated roles for various initiatives and strategic processes as required.
  • Undertaking DSL duties and keeping up to date with requisite training and qualifications
  • Leading on elements of accredited and vocational learning programmes and moderation and validation of portfolios.
